n. f. (Acadie) Prairie bordant un cours d'eau ou le rivage de la mer. Une belle prée. Foin de prée.

Synon. vieilli, littér. ou région. (Ouest) de prairie. Adieu clos, plaines diaprées, Prées, Vergers fleuris, jardins sablés, Blés! (HUGO, Odes et ball., 1828, p.486). Un peu de ces grandes plaines de notre pays, qu'on appelle des prées, qui l'été se couvrent de hauts herbages, (...). De là-haut, on voyait aussi la rivière. (...) elle apparaissait comme un bout de lacet argenté dans la prée verte (LOTI, Rom. enf., 1890, p.43).
